About Agape Roots

Agape Roots is a family support group for foster and adoptive families in the Coastal Bend. This gathering is held every month on Friday evenings, from 6:00 – 7:45 p.m., at a host church.

Your caseworker may register your family to attend, and dinner, childcare, and encouraging conversations will be provided.

While parents take a breath, connect, and find support, children (ages 0-18, including foster, biological, and adopted) will be cared for by respite care providers and Agape Ranch screened volunteers.

Kids will rotate through:

Dinner
Art Class
Game Time
Bible Lesson
Outdoor Play

For parents, Agape Roots is a space to:

Pray and share stories from the week
Discuss parenting challenges and breakthroughs
Learn about upcoming events
Leave refreshed and encouraged

How do I register to attend?

Agape Ranch partners with local child-placing agencies (CPAs) and caseworkers to invite foster and adoptive families to this program.

If you are a current foster or adoptive family and want to participate, please contact your CPA or caseworker to register.
If your agency or caseworker is not familiar with Agape Roots, please contact Agape Ranch directly—we’re happy to help get you connected.

How can I best support this program?

This program does not function without the participation and support of the local community! Below are three ways you can best support this program:

1. Become a Respite Care Provider

Respite Care Providers (RCPs) are the heartbeat of this program. Children and youth in foster care are required to receive care from certified individuals. As a RCP, you undergo training and CPR/First Aid certifications to ensure short-term high quality care for foster children.

2. Volunteer

In addition to Respite Care Providers, we are always looking for passionate childcare volunteers to join this program. During Agape Roots, volunteers are paired with an RCP to assist and learn more about serving vulnerable children.
